Cups are applied – A therapist places cups on the skin using gentle suction, which draws blood to the surface of the skin.
Superficial incisions – Small, shallow cuts are made on the skin with a sterile surgical blade.
Second suction – Cups are reapplied to draw out stagnant and impure blood.

The frequency of Hijama (Wet Cupping) depends on your health and the condition being treated. For healthy adults with no blood deficiencies, it’s recommended to leave at least 4 weeks between sessions. Some individuals may require more frequent treatments if they have long-term health conditions. In contrast, others may only require Hijama occasionally for maintenance and prevention.
The best time to have Hijama done is in the morning, in the first hours after waking. This may be because cupping is most effective when done on an empty stomach.
Hijama is considered most effective in warm or hot weather, as blood naturally rises closer to the skin’s surface. This makes it easier to draw out stagnant blood.
Classical scholars also advised seeking Hijama in hot climates to help regulate blood flow and prevent it from “overheating” in the body.
The amount of blood released during Wet Cupping can range from just a few drops up to 500mL. Women typically lose less than men because of lower iron levels and natural differences in blood pressure. This amount is similar to what happens when donating blood and does not cause any harmful effects.
Your body replaces blood quickly after a Hijama session: Plasma is replaced within hours. White blood cells & platelets return within 2–3 days.
Red blood cells are fully restored within a few weeks.
Yes, Hijama can help balance blood pressure. Studies show that for people with high blood pressure (hypertension), Hijama helps reduce it.
For people with low blood pressure (hypotension), the slight blood loss encourages vasoconstriction, helping raise it to a normal level.
This makes Hijama a natural therapy that supports overall circulatory health.
A typical Hijama/wet cupping therapy session lasts 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Often, at the client's request, we combine cupping with sports massage, deep tissue massage, or remedial massage for maximum recovery benefits.
The cost of the Wet Cupping/Hijama Assessment and Treatment is $120. This includes all the single-use disposable cups. We generally apply 11-15 cups. However, this may vary depending on the location where you need to be treated, your body type or your medical history.
